The tall yellow flowering spikes are frequently found on roadsides and dunes from June to September. Evening Primrose oil has numerous medicinal properties. The flowers open in the evening and are a good nectar source for moths.
Sowing - Sow at any time of year, providing plants are well watered.or best results, sow in Spring or early Autumn. For maximum benefit, sow the seed in trays or pots of moist compost. As the seedlings appear, keep out of direct sunlight. When large enough, transplant the young plants to the desired location. Alternatively, sow in a well raked seed bed ensuring that the soil is fine and crumbly.Scatter the seed, rake lightly and firm down well. Keep well watered and weeded.
Maintenance - Cut back the plants in late September once the seed has fallen.
As a biennial this plant will flower in year two.
