The common frog loves damp places and moves to ponds and water filled ditches to breed in spring where it lays frog spawn which turns into tadpoles then tiny frogs in about 3 months. It spends its winters dormant, usually at the bottom of ponds.
Food:- Eats slugs, worms, snails and other invertebrates.

Common Toad (bufo bufo)
Up to 15cm long
The common toad can be distinguished from the common frog by its warty skin. Unlike the frog which lays its spawn in a mass, the toad lays its eggs in a long string. the toads skin contains powerful toxins and it puffs itself up to ward off predators such as foxes.
