Mallard (Anus platyrhynchos)

Length 58 cm

Our best known duck, the Mallard will visit gardens with ponds and those near to rivers and lakes.

Nest:-
 Leaf and grass nest, sited in dense vegetation but sometimes in trees. They will nest in large gardens where they have cover and will use purpose built duck boxes.

Male

Feeding:-
Will graze on lawns and will eat frogs and fish from ponds. Will take bread and grain from humans and can become quite tame.
