Dunnock (Prunella modularis)

Feeding:-
Insects, spiders and small seeds. Will sometimes visit bird tables but is more likely to feed on crumbs and seed from the ground.

Dunnock on Squirrel Proof Feeder courtesy Bruce Pascoe >>

Length 14.5cm

This bird is on the amber list

The Dunnock is often confused with the house sparrow and was once known as the hedge sparrow, however, its behaviour is very different to that of the sparrow as it is quite shy and will soon head for cover at the slightest noise.

Nest:-
Moss and twig nest lined with hair and moss, sited in bushes and thick hedges.
