Lacewings

  • Lacewings feed mainly on aphids
  • They will often use bug boxes to hibernate in winter and you should bring your bug house into a garage or other outhouse in winter to protect them from frosts.
  • There are many species of lacewings, ranging from green to brown and can turn flesh coloured in autumn when entering outhouses for hibernation.

You can encourage lacewings into your garden by buying or making a bug box. These can be sited in a sunny position near to their food source (aphids). Attractants can also be purchased to encourage them further.

See our full range of bug houses and attractants....
