Starlings


Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)

Length 22cm

 This bird is on the red list

The starling is usually seen in flocks and is often seen scavenging. They are not very popular in the garden as they can clear a bird table in minutes as they feed in large numbers.

Nest:-
Untidy nest of straw, stems and leaves in hole in tree or rocks or in large nestboxes.

Feeding:-
Insects, snails, worms, fruit and berries. They will also eat bread and scraps from the bird table and from hanging feeders.
