The Willow tit is very similar to the marsh tit but its black cap is matt and not gloss and also extends further down nape. It is an occasional visitor to gardens.
Nest:- Scanty nest of wood chips, moss and animal hair in hole in rotten wood or broad-leaved tree. Will sometimes use woodpecker holes or nestboxes.
Feeding:- Insects and their larvae, spiders and small seeds.
Long-tailed tit(Aegithalos caudatus)
Length 14cm
The Long-tailed tit is quite a tiny bird but as its name suggests It. has a long tail. A delightful but shy bird usually seen in small flocks.
Nest:- Moss, lichen, plant fibres, cobweb, hair and feather nest in tree or high in bush.
Feeding:- Small insects and spiders.Also small bits of meat, fat and peanuts from the bird table and fat smeared on the bark of trees.
