Treecreeper Family


Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris)

Length 12.5cm

Quite a shy bird and not easy to spot, the Treecreeper is usually seen hopping up mature trees, getting insects from the bark with its long curved bill.

Feeding:-
Mainly small insects and spiders found in bark. Rarely visits the bird table but will eat a mixture of chopped nuts and fat smeared onto tree bark.

Nest:-
Built  of twigs, moss and grasses and lined with feathers and sited in gaps behind bark, in ivy or in a building crevice. Will also use a specially designed wedge shaped box.
