Pied Wagtail (Motcilla alba)

Length 18 cm

The wagtails distinctive bobbing tail are what gives it its name. Often seen on lawns or rooftops searching for insects.

Nest:-
Cup nest of grass, roots and mosses, lined with feathers, often built in holes in buildings, piles of wood or the old nests of other birds. Will often make use of an open fronted nest box.

Feeding:-
Mainly small insects, especially flies, also eats snails and earthworms. Will take small seeds and crumbs usually from the ground or open bird table.
