The wren has a distinctive cocked tail and is often described as mouse-like. It feeds on the ground and is particularly affected by bad winters.
Nest:- Spherical nest of moss, grass and leaves with a side entrance. Will also nest in open fronted nest boxes, occasionally tit boxes and roosting pockets.
Feeding:- Mainly small insects and grubs but will also eat spiders and worms. A rare visitor to the bird table but it will take small crumbs and grated cheese especially if sprinkled on the ground.
