Ladybirds and the Larval stage of the Lacewing eat prodigious quantities of Aphids and other soft bodied garden pests.
Lacewing adults can survive the winter in protected places but have a difficult time surviving cold winters.
The best place to hang the bug box is on a south facing wall between 30-120cms above the ground in full sun not shaded by overhanging vegetation and sheltered from the wind.
You can put your bug box up at any time, many types of insects may use it for shelter.
