Teasel Wild Flower Seeds Dipsacus fullonum (LL17)
£1.49
Often grown by gardeners to attract Goldfinches, the tall spiny teasel has a ring of tiny mauve flowers around its spiky head from July to August. The heads were used for teasing or 'fulling' of woollens. Teasel will grow well, even on clay soils.
Sowing - Sow at any time of the year, providing plants are kept well watered. For best results, sow in Spring or early Autumn. For maximum benefit sow the seed in trays or pots of moist compost and place outside. As the seedlings appear, keep out of direct sunlight. Transplant the young plants to the desired location. Alternatively, sow in a well raked seed bed and ensure that the soil is fine and crumbly. Scatter the seed, rake lightly and firm down well. Keep well watered and weeded.
Maintenance - Cut back the plants in late September once the seed has fallen
